It’s draft season. As the Super Bowl fades further into the rearview, it’s time to spin forward and look ahead to the future. Each Friday, I’ll be looking at the top 5 players in the NFL Draft at several core positions.
Throw out any tired narrative of the running back position’s diminishing value. That’s hogwash. In 2016, we saw how a top pick in Ezekiel Elliott could change the identity of an offense. In Tennessee, Jon Robinson built a promising ground and pound nucleus around the talents of DeMarcco Murray and Dereck Henry. The NFC Champion Falcon’s had the best 1-2 punch around with their take on speed back meets even faster speed back.
This years class looks special. Even with Nick Chubb and Royce Freeman heading back for another year, there are several guys ready to be impact starters from Day 1. There will likely be Jordan Howard types who put up strong campaigns out of nowhere. Here, we’ll try to sort out the headliners.
