New York Jets 2007 first-round pick Darrelle Revis was informed cut today that he will get cut. He’s the third great from the class of 2007 that won’t be with the team that drafted him.

“Father time is undefeated. ”

“Injuries eventually catch up with you.”

“Once a player turns 30, it’s hard to stay with the same team.”

“This is a production-based business so a player’s production has to match his contract.”

We’ve all heard thing like this at some point while watching the NFL, right?

We’ll, the NFL will always be this way, only the players involved will change. Darrelle Revis is the third great player from the 20O7 NFL Draft, to find out he’s no longer with his first team. The New York Jets have informed him Tuesday that they plan to cut him.

Jets owner Woody Johnson said per PFT:

"“Darrelle Revis is one of the greatest players to ever wear a Jets uniform,. His combination of talent, preparation and instincts is rare and helped him become one of the most dominant players of his generation.“I appreciate Darrelle’s contributions to this organization and, wherever his career takes him, his home will always be here with the Jets.”"

Revis played eight of his 10 years in the NFL with the  Jets, making seven Pro Bowls and four All-Pro teams. He joins 2007 classmates Jamaal Charles and Adrian Peterson in looking for work this offseason. Revis was due to make $13 million this year before the news.

Charles was due to make $6.2 million before he was cut Tuesday. And the Vikings decided not to pick up the option on Peterson’s contract worth $18 million. So it’s easy to that what these three have in common aligns with everything previously mentioned.

They’re all over 30, making huge salaries and had injuries this past season.

But still, 10 years makes them the exception, not the rule!
