2nd Round, No. 36 overall- Kevin King, CB, Washington

Kevin King turned a lot of heads with his impressive performance at the NFL Scouting Combine. However, many in the draft community recognized his talent well before this part in the process. He’s an equally talented football player as he is a natural athlete.

King brings terrific size to the cornerback position which is something Vic Fangio covets. He’s also an aggressive defender who will support the run and attack the ball in the air.

His performance in the 3-cone drill shows that he’s a very fluid mover for someone with his length. King can keep in-phase with shiftier targets and limit overall separation. The Bears need a long-term solution at the cornerback spot—not just a veteran stopgap.

King would give them someone they can build around as the future at the position.

It’s possible that the Bears use this pick on a quarterback if someone they like falls into their lap. The issue is that they appear too really like Mike Glennon and want to give him a shot to win the long-term job.

Chicago will select a quarterback in this draft, but might find better value later in the draft. However, it really all depends who’s on the board when Chicago picks in each round.
