3rd Round, No. 74 overall- Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan

Michigan’s Jourdan Lewis is an undersized cornerback prospect who stands out because of his overall coverage skills. His ability to read routes and keep in-phase with his target limits separation. Lewis is an ideal candidate to work primarily out of the slot.

The Eagles need to add a few cornerbacks during the 2017 NFL Draft and Lewis would be someone capable of making an immediate contribution. This mock draft has them landing Quincy Wilson in the 1st round so they have added two potential starters.

Philadelphia would field a very young cornerback group with Wilson, Lewis and Jalen Mills. This would put a lot of pressure on the safeties and front-7. The Eagles already rely on Malcolm Jenkins to run the show and his job would be harder with such a young cornerback group.

It’s possible that the Eagles use this pick to improve their defensive line. They recently released Connor Barwin which hurts their overall depth at defensive end. Another area where they need to add some depth is at the linebacker spot.

Philadelphia is reportedly looking to trade Mychal Kendrick which would create an opening at linebacker. This could be a landing spot for Tennessee’s Jalen Reeves-Maybin.
