8. player. 87. The running game was one of the main reasons the Carolina Panthers made it to the Super Bowl in 2015. And their lack of a running game is the main reason why they fell off in 2016. Cam Newton is a good running QB but your QB shouldn’t lead your team in rushing.
The Panthers got him some help in pass protection in free agency, signing left OT Matt Kalil.. So in the draft, they’ll look to get Newton an RB so he doesn’t have to do everything.. And since Fournette is already gone, the Panthers don’t hesitate to take Dalvin Cook.

The 4.49 running Cook is the ultimate home run hitting RB of this draft class.. He has great vision and is very elusive to go with the great game speed he has. He’s a do-it-all, game-breaking bell-cow that can catch passes out of the backfield and in the slot.

He’s also solid in pass protection so you can leave him out there when the RB doesn’t have a route. Cook would go well with a defense that got better as the season went on in 2016. Look for the Panthers to climb back up the standings in 2017 with the running game going.
. RB. Florida State. Dalvin Cook
