Greg Papa’s Mouth Could Cost the Oakland Raiders

The saying, “Loose lips sink ships.” is an accurate saying. And Oakland Raiders broadcaster Greg Papa’s lips could sink the Marshawn-Lynch-to-Oakland-for-free ship.

We all love Oakland Raiders insiders as they give us the information we want to know about the team. But even the Bible says there is a time everything under the Sun. And it was recently time for Raiders broadcaster Greg Papa to shut up but he didn’t.

Papa said on his show on 95.7 The Game per the San Jose Mercury:

"“They are talking to a certain running back. I’ll have to hold this for tomorrow. He did not even play in the NFL last year,” Papa said. I’ll leave it there. Chew on that.”"

Then ESPN’s Adam Schefter found out that unnamed running back is Marshawn Lynch. If Papa would have stayed quiet while Lynch comes back, the Seattle Seahawks would have cut  him. They considered cutting him when Thomas Rawls started to come on at the end of 2015.

Now, they still have Rawls, just signed Eddie Lacy and have youngster C.J. Prosise. So giving Lynch $9 million for 2017 sounds even worse than giving it to him for 2016. The Dallas Cowboys are in a similar situation with quarterback Tony Romo right now.

And they are holding Romo hostage with the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos showing interest. So we can expect the Seahawks to try to get something from the Raiders now. If the Raiders really talked to Lynch, they can be punished by the NFL for tampering.

That gives the Seahawks the position of strength in negotiation. That’s important because draft picks are platinum to GM Reggie McKenzie and the Seahawks will ask for one. And if there’s too much fuss over this, Lynch is the kind of guy that will forget it and stay retired.

What are you doing Greg (Papa)?

That should be conduct detrimental to the team!
