The Philadelphia Eagles have had a busy offseason and hope the moves they made have them in prime position to make a playoff run.
Adding play making wide receivers like Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith addressed one of the Philadelphia Eagles biggest team needs. Philadelphia needed to bring in more reliable pass catchers to help the development of Carson Wentz.
However, they failed to address some other areas on the roster and have plenty of needs as they head towards the 2017 NFL Draft. Below is a breakdown of their top three needs at this point in the offseason.
No. 1- Cornerback
The situation at cornerback is something the Eagles should be worried about. They have little depth and very limit starting experience with those on the roster. Jalen Mills is the most promising of the bunch, but he’s still a work in progress.
As it stands, Ron Brooks is penciled in as the other starting cornerback and he’s nothing more than a depth player.
The Eagles should be able to use the 2017 NFL draft to address this issue. They realistically need to come out of this draft with at least two cornerbacks capable of contributing right away. Their 1st round pick might be the best place for them to add a real difference maker.
No. 2- Running Back
Signing Jeffery and Smith will be a huge boost for Carson Wentz. However, the lack of an effective running attack is still a major issue. Ryan Mathews continues to struggle with injuries and Darren Sproles remains a specialized player.

The 2017 Draft is loaded with running back talent which gives the Eagles a great chance to find a new starter. They have been linked to prospects such as LSU’s Leonard Fournette, Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey and Florida State’s Dalvin Cook.
No. 3- Defensive Line
Losing Bennie Logan to the Kansas City Chiefs was an underrated story line during the early part of free agency. The same could be said about the salary cap related release of Connor Barwin. These two losses have hurt the overall depth along the defensive line.
Logan’s absence is going to make life more difficult for Fletcher Cox and the linebackers. He was the guy they asked to occupy blockers and do the dirty work. It allowed Cox to focus on penetrating the pocker and the linebackers to cleanly flow to the football.
Philadelphia is looking to Beau Allen to replace Logan but will also use the draft to add some depth.
