The Houston Texans are still waiting it out for the Dallas Cowboys to release QB Tony Romo. If he stays healthy in Houston, the Texans are a Super Bowl contender without a doubt. But the Texans aren’t an old team while Romo doesn’t have much longer in the NFL.

So the team would be wise to invest a first-round pick in a QB with a lot of upside. DeShone Kizer has the most upside of any QB in this draft as he has a big arm with plus athleticism. He’s also 6’5″, 235 pounds, allowing him to hang in that pocket and throw a strike when he’s getting hit.

And of the QB prospects in this draft, he’ll understand HC Bill O’Brien’s complex offense the fastest. He comes from a pro style offense while the other top prospects came from the spread offense. He also has chemistry with 2016 first-round WR Will Fuller from their days at Notre Dame.

Kizer is as flawed as the rest of these QB prospects are but that’s why Romo will be a Texan soon. Since Kizer is the most ready to play now, if Romo gets hurt, all may not be lost. But if all goes well, Kizer will redshirt as a rookie while O’Brien grooms him for the future.
. QB. Notre Dame. DeShone Kizer. 25. player. 10
