2. player. 42. It looks like the San Francisco 49ers are going to roll with Brian Hoyer as the starting QB this year. Before you start to think that’s bad, it’s better than drafting one with the No. 2 overall pick this year. After all, he did lead the Houston Texans into the playoffs a couple of years ago.
So the 49ers roll with the best available prospect at a need and that would be DE Solomon Thomas. At 6’3″, 275 pounds, Thomas has an explosive first step with plenty of burst off the edge. He made himself some real money at the 2017 NFL Scouting combine, running a 4.69 40.

To go with that speed, Thomas also showed that he’s very strong, repping 225 pounds 30 times. His bull rush along with his arm under moves to rush the passer will make him a handful. His versatility makes him the perfect player for the 49ers to bring in for their hybrid 4-3 defense.

He could line up as a base end in the 4-3, an end in the 3-4 and kick inside to DT on passing downs. The 49ers have two high picks at DT and need DE Aaron Lynch to play like he did in 2015. And with Thomas making his immediate impact, the 49ers are on the way up.
. DE. Stanford. Solomon Thomas
