Ohio State. Malik Hooker. 7. player. 13. With Keenan Allen coming back in 2017, QB Philip Rivers and Los Angeles Chargers will have their passing attack. They’ll also have a solid running game with RB Melvin Gordon, who barely missed a 1,000-yard season last year. The Chargers even brought in left OT Russell Okung to protect Rivers.
That leaves the Chargers to focus on the defensive side of the ball, where they had injuries last year. The front-seven was solid, getting after the QB with Melvin Ingram and rookie standout Joey Bosa. It was the CB position that had a rash of injuries hit and cost the team in 2016.

That leaves the FS position on the to-do list for the Chargers as they have yet to replace Eric Weddle. The FS has to have range because with DC Gus Bradley coming on, they’ll run a lot of cover-1 and cover-3. That’s right up Malik Hooker’s alley as he reminds many of legendary Ed Reed.

He’s not healthy enough to test at the combine or Pro Days but timed speed doesn’t matter with him. You can see on tape that he can cover the ground a single-high S needs to cover on the field. Hooker is what the doctor ordered for the Chargers and from all the media reports,. they know it.
. S
