Now former Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo is retiring. The way he went about this whole thing shows he’s a Cowboy through and through.

From the time QB Dak Prescott performed well as a rookie, the writing was on the wall. Tony Romo, once the team’s franchise QB, saw the writing and acted accordingly. He was very classy, writing a concession speech so Cowboys fans would get behind Prescott.

From there, Cowboys brass claimed they would “do right by Romo” and they might have. But Romo did right by the Cowboys more than they did him and the speech was just the start. There was speculation that Romo decided to retire because no one wanted to trade for him.

But that’s a bunch of hogwash because Romo would want to go to a team that didn’t give anything up. After 13 years with the Cowboys, he just couldn’t see himself in another uniform. He could possibly take the Houston Texans to a Super Bowl in 2017.

But to him, that just isn’t the same as taking the Cowboys to the Super Bowl. He even left the door open to return to the Cowboys if there’s an injury to Prescott. Romo loves owner Jerry Jones, loves the Cowboys and would still do anything to help the star.

Prescott isn’t out of the woods yet as we’ve seen Robert Griffin III and Colin Kaepernick fall off. If something like that does happen, you gotta expect the Cowboys to get Romo back with a year of rest. In an era where players often change teams, Romo chose CBS over another team.

That’s a real Cowboy!
