Alabama. Jonathan Allen. 3. player. 57. In his time at Alabama, DE Jonathan Allen proved to be a disruptive defensive lineman. At 6’3″, 286 pounds with 33 5/8-inch-long arms, he doesn’t have ideal 3-4 DE height and length. But Allen more than makes up for it in a multitude of other ways.

He was taught well at Alabama so he is technically sound in playing the 3-4 DE position. Allen works very well with his hands, slapping and chopping at the wrists and forearms of opponents. He is also quick off the ball, enabling him to execute his plan before the opponent.

Then there’s his play strength that allows him to anchor against double-teams and kick inside on passing downs. The Bears fixed their lacking secondary in free agency with S Quintin Demps and CB Prince Amukamara. They also got a QB they can win with in Mike Glennon.

So it seems like they want to bring in Allen to add to a front-seven that came along last year. Allen is going to help Leonard Floyd, Pernell McPhee and Akiem Hicks get after the QB immediately. Don’t look now but the Bears look like they’re ready to turn things around.
. DE
