Michigan. Jabrill Peppers. 7. player. 13. Former Michigan S Jabrill Peppers didn’t get a fair shake from a lot of the media early this offseason. They seemed to forget that he took one for the team, playing ILB, not the best position for him. So he was marked down for not having the type of season his talent would suggest.

But if you look at his tape at S, he’s as good as anyone as he has all kinds of versatility. He can play in the box as long as it’s not at LB and cover the slot. Peppers can also play on the island outside but he’ll be asked to line up as the single high S.

He confirmed that he has the speed and range for it, running a 4.46 40 at the combine. DC Gus Bradley just landed with the Los Angeles Chargers after getting fired in Jacksonville. That means the Chargers will be running cover-1 and cover-3 all day so they need a rangy FS.

They could use a guy like Peppers after losing Eric Weddle in free agency last year. The Chargers’ offense will get it done behind the throwing of QB Philip Rivers and running of QB Melvin Gordon. So if the Chargers stay healthy on defense while adding Peppers, they will be a factor.
. S
