As we get closer to draft day a lot of different rumors start to swirl that impact everyone’s 2017 NFL Mock Draft projections.

This updated version of my 2017 NFL Mock Draft has a significant change based on the report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This report says that the Cleveland Browns are still considering Mitchell Trubisky with the No. 1 overall pick.

The only way this makes sense for the Browns is if they feel Trubisky is an elite talent. They also need to believe he has the chops to develop into a leader and franchise quarterback. It’s a tough sell based on what little experience Trubisky brings to the table.

Cleveland is in a unique position because of how many draft picks they own in the next two drafts. Nobody can afford to screw up the No. 1 overall pick, but the Browns are in better position than most. If they truly feel Trubisky has the potential to be an elite player they have to pull the trigger.

The Browns picking Trubisky No. 1 overall would send the top-half of the 1st round into some craziness. It could force other quarterback-needy teams to become more aggressive or have someone trade up to land Myles Garrett.
