3rd Round (No. 99 via Balt)- Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
Jourdan Lewis is dealing with some off-field issues that could potentially derail his draft stock. The fact that there isn’t any clarification on the situation means that his future is truly up in the air at this point.
On the field, Lewis is a fluid athlete who excels at keeping in-phase with his target. He’s someone who limits separation and forces the quarterback to squeeze it into tight windows. Lewis also has the ball skills to produce turnovers.
The problem is that he’s undersized for the position and is likely to spend most of his time working out of the slot. This limits his versatility, but doesn’t mean he can’t make a major impact.
NFL teams are running more nickel and dime coverage to match up with the offensive changes in the league.
The 3rd round would be a good spot for the Eagles to look at a high-upside wide receiver. Both Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith are on 1-year deals which means they could be gone by next season.
Tennessee’s Josh Malone is someone with big-time potential and could be available when the Eagles pick in the 3rd round.
