The Cleveland Browns are considering taking QB Mitch Trubisky at No. 1 overall over Myles Garrett. But HC Hue Jackson doesn’t doesn’t want his name in that.

The Cleveland Browns have been bad at football for a long time now because they haven’t drafted well. They got so desperate, they hired a GM with a baseball background that’s tied to analytics. Unfortunately, analytics don’t tell you if a college player is cut out for the NFL.

Analytics also don’t tell you if a WR is quick enough or fast enough to get separation from a CB. They don’t tell if an OL is big and strong enough to put another 300-pounder’s face in the sand. And they don’t tell if a QB can read defenses or throw into tight windows.

QB Mitchell Trubisky’s tape tells you he doesn’t read defenses at all. He looks over at his coach on the sideline every time the defense lines up on his offense. Against real defenses like Stanford and Georgia, he didn’t play well as he was fooled, leading to interceptions.

So it would be stupid to take him at No. 1 overall instead of DE Myles Garrett. There’s no such thing as a sure thing but Garrett is the surest thing there is in this draft. And Browns HC Hue Jackson knows it, which why he wants all to know that he prefers Garrett.

GM Sashi Brown has the final say while Jackson doesn’t want his name caught up in such stupidity. Sure, the Browns need a QB but Trubisky isn’t even the best one in a bad class. And Brown might want to listen to what Jackson says a No. 1 pick should be.

He told Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

"“Everybody is not the No. 1 pick in the draft. There’s maybe only one or two or three guys that can actually be that.“When you draft a guy as the No. 1 pick in the National Football League, you want him to be a very dominant player, you want him to be a cornerstone player, you want him to be a generational player. That’s got to be the focus as we continue to move forward.”"

Trubisky clearly is not one of those players and Garrett is clearly the guy here. So you can see that Jackson distancing himself from the thought of taking Trubisky at No. 1 overall. And if Brown is smart and wants to keep his job, he would to.

You can get a guy as good as Trubisky in the second round.
