Tony Romo recently retired from the Dallas Cowboys to be a CBS analyst. But he suspiciously hasn’t filed his retirement paperwork.

One thing that stuck in my mind when Tony Romo made his concession speech is the agony he was in. He badly wants to be the Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback, especially as loaded as they are now. He just got hurt and Dak Prescott came in and played very well.

Just before the 2016 season, Romo told the media he has four or five years left. So to have that all ripped away even though he’s healthy now was devastating for him. He could have went to the Houston Texans and possibly to the Super Bowl but didn’t.

He wants to go to the Super Bowl with the Cowboys, not another team. So the retired and will remain retired unless something happens with Prescott. When he retired, he did say he would be there if the Dallas Cowboys ever need him.

Put that together with Todd Archer of ESPN.com reporting that Romo hasn’t filed his retirement paperwork. Marshawn Lynch didn’t file his either and he appears to be on the way back with the Oakland Raiders. It could mean nothing but I think it means something.

Archer said of the situation:

"“Romo has not filed retirement papers with the NFL and it is not something that is planned at the moment. That does not mean Romo will return to playing status anytime soon, but it does mean the option remains open.”"

You know Romo wants to play for the Cowboys and there’s a chance Prescott gets hurt.  There’s also a chance the Prescott isn’t as good as many think he is because of his rookie year. I’m a huge conspiracy theorist, especially when it comes to owner Jerry Jones.

So I think Romo is backing Prescott up from the CBS booth!
