56. The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t make the playoffs in 2016 so Marvin Lewis is on the hot seat. They still have the combination of QB Andy Dalton and WR A.J. Green to get things done one offense. Where the Bengals fell off is on the defensive side of the ball, up on the front seven.
They didn’t stop the run very well nor were they able to get a consistent rush on opposing QBs. The Bengals just need to put a few players around DT Geno Atkins and DE Carlos Dunlap. They already made one good move in free agency, bringing in ILB Kevin Minter.
<div class=. DE. Washington. Derek Barnett. 9. player

He will replace the aging Rey Maualuga and help the Bengals toughen up against the run. Former Tennessee DE Derek Barnett is the player they should select in the draft at No. 9 overall. Someone to come off the opposite edge of Dunlap with Atkins inside would do it for that defense.

With his skill rushing the passer and ability to play the run well, Barnett will make his impact immediately. Then we should expect the Bengals defense to make a big move up the NFL rankings. This could be the draft pick the cools Lewis’ seat off a little.
