Malik McDowell. 21. player. 50. The Detroit Lions have gone to the playoffs two of the last three years under HC JIm Caldwell. He has QB Matthew Stafford playing at a high level with WRs Marvin Jones and Golden Tate. And at the same time, Stafford is getting great protection from his O-line.

On defense, they have a decent secondary behind the play of star CB Darius Slay. But they would be much better off if they had an interior pass rusher to bring heat from inside. DE Ezekiel Ansah will be back healthy to help the Lions get after the QB off the edge.

Former Michigan State DT Malik McDowell is supremely talented and should be a top-10 pick. But it sounds like scouts wanted him to be more consistent on tape. Coaches get paid the big bucks to make players more consistent so the Lions’ staff can take the challenge.

If it works out for them, the Redskins get a dynamic D-lineman and upgrade the front-seven. He would be a presence inside that would help Ansah do his thing outside. Then they can add an RB in Round 2 and have what they need to win in the playoffs this year.
. DT. Michigan State
