QB. North Carolina. Mitchell Trubisky. 27. player. 124. The Kansas City Chiefs recently got some good news for their defense in 2017. ILB and defensive leader Derrick Johnson is expected to be ready to roll for training camp in a few months. So the Chiefs will be returning their solid defense to try to go further this coming season.

But with their offense being the same, I seriously doubt the Chiefs make it any further. Andy Reid is great with QBs but Alex Smith only has so much clay for him to mold. So Reid should look to draft a QB with more upside to eventually carry the team to the a Super Bowl.

Mitchell Trubisky has that type of talent and upside with a good arm, accuracy and athleticism. But he is far from ready to play now with only 13 college starts to his credit. So here at No. 27 overall, I have Reid taking Trubisky to sit behind Smith for a year or two.

The Chiefs haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1969 because they haven’t had a franchise QB since Len Dawson. Once Reid has Trubisky ready, he would be that franchise QB to lead them. And at that point they would finally become legitimate Super Bowl contenders..
