All the Atlanta Falcons know right now is that they had the Lombardi until the second half of Super Bowl LI. I don’t know what happened but the pass rush that got there in the first half didn’t in second half. Dwight Freeney and Vic Beasley just weren’t as dynamic as they were early in the game.

Call it fatigue, adjustments, whatever, neither the rush nor the defense itself showed up for the second half. Only a no-show can cause a team to come back from 25 points down in a Super Bowl. So the Falcons should probably draft a pass rusher here at No. 31 overall.

Taco Charlton would be a good fit in the Falcons’ scheme as a 4-3 base end. If Freeney is still there in 2017, Charlton can kick inside to tackle on passing downs to rush the passer. If not anything else, the pick would at least give the Falcons some depth on the edge, preventing fatigue

And that should make it much harder for a team to come back from 25 points down. QB Matt Ryan, WR Julio Jones RB Devonta Freeman and that explosive offense will be back. And a little more defense to go with it could help the Falcons get back to the big dance and possibly win it.
. DE. Michigan. Taco Charlton. 31. player. 44
