44. With the No. 31 overall pick in the draft, the Atlanta Falcons select former UCLA DE Takkarist McKinley. McKinley is an ascending prospect that had his share of tackles for losses and sacks last year. He has some developing to do as he’s still a bit raw but physically, he has what it takes.
At 6’2″, 250 pounds and 34 3/4-inch long arms and McKinley has great speed, running a 4.59 40. And to go with it, he has a relentless motor, never giving opposing OTs a chance to take a play off. McKinley also has the ability to convert speed to power and his speed gives him plenty of counter opportunities.

That combination in itself is enough to give most OTs in the NFL a tough day at the office. The Falcons could use him on the other side of Vic Beasley to help him get after opposing QBs. They need more than just Beasley if they’re going to consistently disrupt the pocket.

In the Super Bowl, the Patriots took advantage of their inconsistent rush in the second half. QB Matt Ryan and that explosive offense are still there so they will score with the best of them. But they have to find a way to stop teams from erasing the leads the offense goes out and gets.
. DE. UCLA. Takkarist McKinley. 31. player
