Daryl Washington has been conditionally reinstated by the NFL. But he may not have a place to play as of right now.

ILB Daryl Washington’s career with the Arizona Cardinals started off well. He played the run well inside and out, could cover and could put heat on opposing QBs off the edge. In 2012, Washington had 134 tackles, nine sacks, two fumble recoveries, and an INT.

But then he started getting trouble because he couldn’t leave that bud (marijuana) alone. In 2013, he earned a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on substance abuse. And after he showed he didn’t learn, the NFL suspended him indefinitely in 2014.

Now in 2017, the NFL has conditionally reinstated him but it doesn’t look like the Cardinals want him back. On top of his suspension, he had a year of  probation for a domestic violence incident. According to the Arizona Republic, the Cardinals have no interest in him.

At 30, Washington is still young enough to be difference-maker. But it’s pretty rare for player to miss three seasons then get himself right back into the mix. Nonetheless, Washington is grateful to have an opportunity to show he has learned after his three-year banishment.

"“I’m honored and humbled to be back in the National Football League. Washington said in a statement obtained by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. These last 3 years have been the most difficult of my life without the game I love so much.“That said, I’ve used this time to make tremendous strides as a man and have grown into a proud husband, father, and contributing member of my community.”"

So after three years out of the league, Washington will get another opportunity to play. However, the it doesn’t look like it’s going to be with the Cardinals, the team that drafted him. Washington will likely have to find another NFL team try to catch on with.
