The 2017 NFL Draft has become quarterback craziness with three teams moving up to get new signal callers.

There are some big gambles being made by the Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans. These three teams gave up a ton of draft capital in order their need at the quarterback position. It’s even more of a gamble if you figure in the uncertainty surrounding these quarterbacks.

Chicago gave up the least of the three teams, but only moved up one spot to land Mitch Trubisky. They seem to understand that he’s not ready to see the field early and will give Mike Glennon the starting job for at least this year.

Patrick Mahomes is unlikely to see the field for the next two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. They have Alex Smith under contract for the next two seasons and he should remain the starter barring an injury.

The Texans gave up a ton to grab Deshaun Watson which means he should see the field the earliest among these 1st round quarterbacks. His leadership ability and poise will give him a chance to find some early success.

It’ll be interesting to see if the other quarterback-needy teams panic and get aggressive. Davis Webb and Deshone Kizer are the next two quarterbacks likely to come off the board. I wouldn’t be shock to see both of them sneak into the back half of the 1st round.

The 2017 NFL draft has really gone quarterback crazy with such unproven commodities flying off the board so early in the draft. This has made for one of the more fun and shocking drafts in recent memories.
