The Houston Texans got their franchise quarterback in Deshaun Watson!

As I’ve always maintained, DeShaun Watson is going to be a franchise quarterback in the NFL. I didn’t mock him very high because he didn’t seem to be getting love in the media. But with all that he did in college, I know nothing will ever be too big for him.

Yes, he’s a spread quarterback and will have to change some things when he gets to the league. But the fact that he graduated early should tell us all that he learns fast. The way he dropped back to pass at the combine and in his pro day with clean footwork also shows that.

No matter what type of system you come from, you’re going to have to learn fast. And it’s that ability that will allow Watson to eventually overcome current Houston Texans starting QB Tom Savage. I don’t know when but at some point, he will start in 2017.

The Texans were unable to get former Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, who retired. So they decided to try to emulate what happened with the Cowboys last year with Dak Prescott. The Texans have everything around Watson for him to succeed early in his career.

WRs DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller will be there to catch his passes. RB Lamar Miller will be there to balance things out with a running game. And led by All-World D-lineman J.J. Watt, the Texans have a great defense that won’t force Watson to do too much.

The Texans are ready to roll from now into the future.
