GM Reggie McKenzie has hit on another first-round pick as CB Gareon Conley is going to be a shutdown CB!

For the majority of this draft season, I mocked former UConn S Obi Melifonwu to the Oakland Raiders. But in my very last mock draft, I changed it to former Michigan State DL Malik McDowell. I had no idea that Gareon Conley would be available that late at first.

He was expected for much of this draft season to go no later than No. 15 overall. Some evaluators believe he is better than former teammate and No. 11 overall pick Marshon Lattimore. You can’t help but notice him on tape when you’re looking at Lattimore.

Then after the rape accusations, it didn’t look like Conley would be drafted at all. Obviously, rape is a serious crime so you have to do your due diligence in situations like this. I did my own too and right now, it looks like there’s reason to believe that Conley is innocent.

When you get the best player available at a need that fits your system, you’ve made the perfect pick. The Raiders have made that here at No. 24 overall as Conley is going to be a shutdown CB. I still like Sean Smith and David Amerson but Conley is just better.
