The Washington Redskins got their much needed interior D-lineman!

The Washington Redskins draft Jon Allen defensive end from Alabama with the 17th pick of the 2017 draft in the first round.

Jon Allan is a beast he is a great run defender who can also put pressure on the quarterback. He fits in perfectly into the Washington defense that has had major defensive line problems.

Allen has been a success at all levels. Starting way back to high school where he was the Virginia Gatorade Football Player of the year. So it is a bit of a homecoming to Jon coming home to Virginia playing for the Redskins .

Allen won a national Championship in 2015 along with First team All-SEC. Which shows he excels at the highest level in college football. This means it should be a fairly easy transition to the NFL.

When drafting a defensive lineman in the first round, they have to be able set the edge and get up field. In just 4 years he amassed 152 tackles 28 sacks and 44.5 tackles for loss which is  solid production  against top offenses in college football.

There are a few more needs the Washington Redskins have such as offensive Line, linebacker, and cornerback.

In my opinion I think he is a great pick at the 17th spot. He definitely helps solidify a shaky at best defensive line. This will free up play makers such as Ryan Kerrigan who has been asked to do a lot.
