The Kansas City Chiefs will be solid on defense as ILB Derrick Johnson will be back from his achilles tear. But someone has to tell the Chiefs that they didn’t win the Super Bowl and need a win-now move. They just traded all the way up into the top 10 for QB Patrick Mahomes, a developmental prospect.
Mahomes is talented but he’s not ready to play anytime soon and the Chiefs gave up a lot for him. Add to that the fact that next year’s QB class will be the best it’s been in a long time. When you go as far as the Chiefs did, your supposed to draft to go further the following year anyway.

But instead, they drafted as if they just won it all and are developing guys behind who they have. In Round 2, the Chiefs drafted DE Tanoh Kpassagnon, another talented prospect that needs developing. In Round 3, the Chiefs finally thought about winning now and took RB Kareem Hunt to maintain the running game.

Like the Chiefs’ first two picks, the rest of this draft is depth and there to develop. I believe Andy Reid can eventually turn into something but they’re squandering a roster than can win now with a player or two. The AFC West is getting better while the Chiefs are getting worse so they won’t win it in 2017.
. — D. . kansas city chiefs. 27. team. 124
