By Jon Dove
9. Kansas City Chiefs
Key Additions: Bennie Logan, Patrick Mahomes, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Kareem Hunt and Jehu Chesson
Key Losses: Dontari Poe, Jaye Howard
The story here for the Kansas City Chiefs is that Andy Reid is a really good coach who gets the most of his team’s talents. You can look at this roster and pick out a handful of holes, but somehow the Chiefs routinely find themselves in playoff contention.

Offensively, the Chiefs appear to be committed to Alex Smith for at least one more season. They used a lot of draft capital to bring in Patrick Mahomes so he will get his chance to start. This was a long-term move by Reid as those picks could’ve been used to help the team win now.
They could’ve used another pass-catching option to stretch the field. Tyreek Hill is an offensive weapon but still needs to refinement as a route runner. Jehu Chesson has talent but he’s not an explosive athlete who will take the top off a defense.
Drafting Kareem Hunt was an underrated move as he could be the team’s starting running back early in the season. He’s a downhill runner who does a great job picking up yards after contact.
The defense will benefit from a fully healthy Justin Houston and the under the radar signing of Bennie Logan.
