Los Angeles Chargers: In-Depth 2017 NFL Draft Review

Sleeper
Dan Feeney isn’t a true sleeper because he entered the draft with plenty of supporters. However, the fact he lasted to the 3rd round shows not everyone was sold on his upside. The Chargers even drafted Forrest Lamp a round earlier while passing on Feeney.
However, he has the talent and focus to be an All-Pro player. Feeney routinely fires out of his stance looking to drive defenders off the line of scrimmage. He’s a good enough athlete to hold up in pass protection.
Feeney’s addition will help sure up the interior of the offensive line and keep pressure out of the face of Philip Rivers. That interior pressure is an issue for someone like Rivers who has mobility problems.
Utah’s Sam Tevi is another sleeper in the Chargers draft class. He has the size and movement ability to be a solid offensive tackle in the NFL. Tevi just needs to get more reps, improved coaching and send more time in the weight room.
However, he’s the type of developmental offensive lineman that makes a ton of sense in the 6th round. It’s possible that Tevi develops into the team’s starting left tackle in the near future. Russell Okung’s injury history means we could see Tevi thrown into action earlier than expected.
