The Philadelphia Eagles addressed a lot of needs during the offseason but failed to bring in a difference maker at running back.

As we head towards OTAs, the Philadelphia Eagles and their fan base are hoping to add some talent at the running back position. There were a lot of rumors leading up to the draft that the Eagles coveted Christian McCaffrey, but he only lasted to pick No. 8.

The running back market is pretty bare at this point with only the likes of LeGarrette Blount left on the free agent market. However, Jimmy Kempski of the Philly Voice recently mentioned Mark Ingram and Jeremy Hill as trade options.

He doesn’t feel that either of these trades are likely, but it does show a lot people in the Philadelphia area are not happy with the current stable of running backs.

The Saints could look to move Ingram after adding Adrian Peterson and Alvin Kamara this offseason. They now have three running backs who will be chopping at the bit for carries.

Kempski also mentions undrafted free agent Corey Clement as someone who could stick on the roster. Clement comes with a lot of college experience and production while at Wisconsin. He’s someone who can be a solid contributor.

However, the Eagles may be looking to make a bigger splash as they prepare for a playoff run. They added some nice weapons at wide receiver, but still need a reliable running game to help Carson Wentz’s development.

There will be a few veteran running backs who fall out of favor during training camp and the Eagles will be ready to pounce. It’ll be interesting to see if someone with the talent of Ingram or Hill hits the market.

Otherwise, the Eagles will head into the season with Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles as their top options. That duo didn’t get the job done last year and shouldn’t be expected to improve this season.
