4. They play in the AFC East

The New England Patriots have had a tremendous amount of success over the years.  Much of that due to great coaching and a great quarterback.  They’ve had other great players come through and contribute to winning championships as well.

But another reason the Patriots have been so successful is because they play in a perennially weak division, the AFC East.  The Patriots have won the AFC East eight straight seasons.  There’s nothing there to suggest they won’t win it again in 2017.

The New York Jets have all but thrown in the towel on 2017.  The Buffalo Bills have made a change at head coach and should be better this season.  The Miami Dolphins look like a playoff contender again but the New England Patriots are still the class of the division.

Winning a division isn’t always a cakewalk but considering the New York Jets are in full rebuilding mode, that makes the task a little easier.  Nearly every year the Patriots get a first round bye and part of the reason is because they beat up on the AFC East every year.

The Patriots were 5-1 in the division last season and a similar result will happen this year.  The Patriots will again have the best record in the league in 2017.  If they get the home field advantage in the playoffs, that makes their pathway to the Super Bowl a lot clearer.
