Washington Redskins biggest weaknesses on Offense:

As good as the Washington Redskins passing game is, the Redskins running game still needs work.  Kirk Cousins is one of the better ball handlers in the league, but his passing would be helped with a stronger running game.  That 21st ranking from last season must climb.

The Redskins found a surprise in the backfield last season as rookie Robert Kelley ran for 704 yards and 6 TD’s.  Chances are that Kelley will get better in season two.  But just in case, the Redskins spent a 4th round draft pick on running back Samaje Perine.

Perine probably could have gone higher in the draft, so he will compete with Kelley to see who the primary ball carrier will be for the Washington Redskins.  The Skins still have the oft-injured Matt Jones on the roster as well.

However, it appears as though Jones is seeking a trade to another team.  The backfield is getting very crowded and Matt Jones is seeking greener pastures.  Jones has flashed feature back skills, the problem is just can’t stay healthy, having missed twelve games in two seasons.

But whether is Kelley, Perine, Jones or a combination of the three, the Washington Redskins need someone to step up as and be a home run threat and difference maker at tailback.  The offense will be more effective if that happens.

The Redskins also needs positions on the offensive line to get stronger as well.  Spencer Long started twelve games last season at center.  But while he was solid, the Redskins need him to improve to solidify the position.

Long doesn’t have a lot of experience at center but the Washington Redskins need a greater push up the middle on run blocking and Long must give that to them.  The left guard spot is in question too.

Shawn Lauvao will start but he needs to bring more consistency next to Trent Williams.  Lauvao has played well for the Redskins in the past but they need more consistent play from him to get the run blocking at the level the Redskins must have.
