Derrius Guice, RB LSU: Many Analyst have Guice as their RB1 for the upcomming season. Guice is a big strong back with good speed and an amazing ability to see the field. Last season Guice was used on a limited bases due to Leonard Fornette being the feature back in LSU’s poser running system.

Nagging injury forced Fornette to miss several games and put Guice in the spotlight. He did not disapoint. In somewhat limited action Guice rushed for over 1300 yards had fifteen touchdowns and was a huge contributer on special teams. Some coaches in the league said that had Guice been the starter he would have been a Heisman contender.

Guice has elite speed and vision for the field. He was able to break tackles t the line and sprint past the secondary on the same play. Guice overpowered defenders, while also side stepping them with shifty feet.

He will need to work a little on balance as an every down back. At times he would rumble and stumble through the line leaving you wondering how he stayed on his feet. To get ready for the NFL he will need to clean it up.

His pass catching will need a little work, he wasn’t terrible as a pass catcher, just didn’t get a lot of balls thrown his way. To be considered at the top of the draft he will need to show teams he can handle a pro-route tree.

At this point Guice may not be considered a better talent than Barkley, however by the end of the season that could very well change. Teams like Philadelphia and Washington looking for a Back to complement their team will be excited for the opportunity to pick up Guice.
