2018 NFL Mock Draft: Mid-July Update
By Jon Dove
5. Chicago Bears- Minkah Fitzpatrick, CB, Alabama
The Chicago Bears have done a nice job adding young talent across their roster. However, the defensive backfield is an area that needs a lot of work. This is especially true at the cornerback position where they lack a true No. 1 corner.
Minkah Fitzpatrick will head into the NFL with tons of experience in high pressure situations. His time at Alabama has taught him how to win and deal with top-end SEC receivers.
6. Jacksonville Jaguars- Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA
Look for some major changes if the Jacksonville Jaguars are drafting this early again. This is Blake Bortles last chance to lead this team to the playoffs and if they are picking No. 6 overall that didn’t happen. UCLA’s Josh Rosen has the upside to make an immediate impact.
He’d provide some hope for the future and allow the Jaguars to make a clean break from Bortles.
7. Buffalo Bills- Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State
The Buffalo Bills still have LeSean McCoy on the roster, but he’s owed a lot of money and the team could save by cutting him lose. He’s also approaching 30-years hold which has been the drop off point for many running backs.

Saquon Barkley is the type of talent that makes it easy for a team to move on from a veteran like McCoy. Barkley is a difference maker who produces in both the running and passing game. There might not be a more explosive offensive weapon in this entire draft class.
8. Los Angeles Chargers- Orlando Brown Jr., OT, Oklahoma
The Los Angeles Chargers signed Russell Okung with the hopes he solidifies the left tackle position. However, he has a lengthy injury history that could make this signing a mistake. Even if he has a good season the Chargers might be wise to grab a young prospect like Orlando Brown Jr.
This is a franchise that has dealt with offensive line issues for a long time and should appreciate the opportunity to settle the left tackle position.
