NFL Training Camp: Arizona Cardinals Rookie Report
By Jon Dove
The Arizona Cardinals are hoping the additions of a few key rookies can help them rebound from last year’s disappointing results.
This may be a smaller draft class, but the Arizona Cardinals will be counting on a few rookies to make immediate contributions. The headliner of their draft is Haason Reddick who is an extremely versatile defender.
Reddick was a late riser in the draft process after evaluators got a chance to see him at the Senior Bowl. This is where he showed his versatility in that he could fit as a traditional linebacker as well as a pass rusher.
During his college career, Reddick was mainly used as a pass rusher but the Senior Bowl showed his other skills. The Cardinals do a good job moving their defenders around the field to ensure they get the most of their talents. We should expect to see the same with Reddick.

Arizona traded up in the 2nd round of the draft to grab Budda Baker. The undersized defensive back is another player who brings plenty of versatility. While at Washington, he lined up all over the field.
Look for the Cardinals to use him at safety, in the slot and working near the line of scrimmage. Baker is a very physical player for some with his smaller stature.
Wide receiver Chad Williams will serve as a developmental back up. However, if the injury bug hits the Cardinals receiving corps again he could see some action. Last year, major contributors like John Brown an Jaron Brown missed time with injuries.
Arizona also added some solid offensive line depth with Dorian Johnson and Will Holden. Johnson could compete for a starting guard position in training camp. However, it’s more likely that both begin the season as backups.
Overall, the type of impact this draft class has really depends on Reddick and Baker.
