Julio Jones vs. the Chicago Bears Secondary

The defending NFC Champions open their season against a Chicago Bears team that figures to struggle for most of the year. Chicago’s roster is a mash up of young players and aging veterans looking for a last chance. This is especially true in the secondary where the Bears lack overall talent.

Julio Jones is going to feast going against the likes of Kyle Fuller, Prince Amukamara and Marcus Cooper. Amukamara is a question mark for this week’s game due to an ankle injury. In fact, he has missed a large chunk of the preseason with injury problems.

Chicago also lacks top-end talent at the safety position. They figure to have journey man Quintin Demps and rookie Eddie Jackson in the starting lineup. Demps does a good job reading the quarterback and jumping routes, but can’t match up with Jones in deep coverage.

Atlanta will look to establish a running attack early in the game, but Chicago actually has a very stout front-7. The strength of their defense is the defensive line and inside linebackers. It’s likely the Falcons will find establishing a running game difficult.

This means the Falcons are likely to exploit the Bears secondary problems.

Starting Julio Jones in your fantasy football league is obvious. However, it’s safe to expect him to have a huge opening week.
