11. Detroit Lions- Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB, Alabama
Minkah Fitzpatrick is an intriguing prospect who could fill multiple roles at the next level. Alabama currently uses him all over the field playing outside cornerback, in the slot and safety. This type of versatility is very attractive to defensive coordinators.
Fitzpatrick is a fluid athlete who keeps in phase with his target. However, it’s his awareness and ability to read the quarterback that makes him special. He has a knack for identifying the developing route and making a play on the ball.
His ball skills and hands make him a major threat to pull down interceptions. The Detroit Lions could use a ball-hawk like Fitzpatrick in their secondary.
Detroit has had some issues at the cornerback position for the past several years. Darrius Slay has developed into a top-flight starter but the rest of the group is below average. Fitzpatrick would serve as an immediate upgrade.
He would also give the Lions a chess piece who could be moved around the field depending on the opponent. There could be weeks where he plays solely in the slot and others where he lines up at safety. The sky is truly the limit for this prospect.
