23. Cleveland Browns (via Hou)- Tarvarus McFadden, CB, Florida State

The Cleveland Browns recently cut ties with Joe Haden in order to get some salary relief and eventually find an upgrade. Haden had a solid career in Cleveland, but had his share of struggles during the end of his tenure.

Cleveland has added a lot of nice pieces to their roster of the past few years. They are hoping that they are only a few more additions away from making a playoff run. One of the areas they need to address is the cornerback position.

Tarvarus McFadden is an interesting prospect who has a fluid draft stock. He has the athletic profile evaluators look for in a cornerback. McFadden also has a nose for the ball and the ball skills to rack up interceptions.

However, he has some lapses in coverage that results in open receivers streaking down field. This is something that could push him down draft boards. On the other hand, if he is able to fix the problem he could go in the other direction.

Earlier in this mock, the Browns added Saquon Barkley to the backfield. I went in that direction guessing that DeShone Kizer would shine as a rookie. Let’s be clear, I don’t necessarily feel Kizer will succeed but make the guess for the purpose of mixing up this mock draft.
