Chiefs at Patriots didn’t turn out like many thought.  The Kansas City Chiefs shocked the New England Patriots 42-27.  Here is the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Chiefs at Patriots – The Good

Alex Smith:

Smith played like a man on a mission in Chiefs at Patriots. It seems as though when the Chiefs drafted rookie Patrick Mahomes that may have lit a fire under Alex Smith.  He didn’t seem like just a place holder for Mahomes, but a player who’s got a lot of good football left in him.

If Smith keeps this up, whether the Chiefs re-sign him or not, someone will pay him a lot of money  next season.  Smith went 28 of 35 for 368 yards and 4 TD passes.  You would think that these were Tom Brady’s numbers, but they weren’t.

Kareem Hunt:

When Spencer Ware went down with a season ending injury in the preseason, the Kansas City Chiefs running game appeared to be in trouble.  However, that could not have been further from the truth.

Because Chiefs rookie running back Kareem Hunt had a début for the ages.  Rushing for 148 yards on just 17 attempts and a touchdown.  He also added 5 catches for 98 yards and 2 TD’s.  The Chiefs have a star in the making.

Justin Houston:

With 2 sacks and dominant play on the edge, Chiefs outside linebacker Justin Houston looks like he’s ready to return to  his 2014 form when he had 22 sacks.  But not only was Houston good rushing the passer but he was great against the run.

That’s how you set the edge.  Houston was unmovable and made big plays against the Patriots running backs all game long.
