Week one of the NFL seasons has finally arrived.  Here is some analysis and picks on each game for the week.  NFL Picks and Predictions – Week 1

NFL Picks – Jets at Bills

With the first of the NFL Picks, the New York Jets are tanking.  They want to get their hands on one of the top quarterbacks in the 2018 NFL Draft.  But they still have some good players on defense that will keep them in some games.  And this game is against a division rival on the road in the Buffalo Bills.

The intensity of the rivalry will make it a little closer than normal.  But the Bills got some good news that quarterback Tyrod Taylor is cleared to start this game and that gives them an advantage over the Jets Josh McCown.

The running of LeSean McCoy will help the Bills control time of possession.  I see the Bills winning this game by a comfortable margin and going 1-0 to start the season.

Winner:   Bills

Score prediction:       24-14  Bills  

Points spread:      Bills  -8.5

Over/under:  40 – Under

NFL Picks – Falcons at Bears

The Chicago Bears  defense will be a little better this season.   They have some up and coming players in the front seven like Akiem Hicks and Leonard Floyd who are coming into their own.  However, it’s the Bears secondary that will have to step up against the Falcons receivers.

The Falcons are loaded on offense with the likes of quarterback Matt Ryan, wide receiver Julio Jones and running back Davonta Freeman.  The Bears have some weapons on offense too, like running back Jordan Howard and quarterback Mike Glennon will need a good running game.

The Bears will have some moments offensively and defensively against the Atlanta Falcons offense, but it won’t be enough.  The Falcons have too much fire power for the Bears and will take the win on the road.

Winner:   Falcons

Score prediction:       31-20  Falcons  

Points spread:      Falcons  -6.5

Over/under:  48.5 – over

NFL Picks – Ravens at Bengals

Another tough division game here.  There will be high intensity as a victory will give the winner a leg up in the division standings.  Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco did not play in the preseason at all and is rested and ready, but he’ll also probably be rusty.

The Bengals will be without middle linebacker Vontaze Burfict due to suspension.  That is a big loss but I think the Bengals will be fine in this game.  Quarterback Andy Dalton has receiver A.J. Green and an assortment of weapons to use against the vaunted Ravens defense.

But both teams have weapons on offense, so points will be put on the board.  However, the Bengals have a few more and they will pull it out in a tight one.
