17. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens blowout win against the Cincinnati Bengals shock a lot of people. This is a team that looked terrible in the preseason where Joe Flacco didn’t take a single snap. He was back in the mix for this game, but it was the play of the defense that won the game.

Baltimore has some really nice young talent on that side of the ball. However, it will be interesting to see if they can maintain this level of success.

18. Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals are in a lot of trouble after the loss of David Johnson. They now need to lean more on the aging Carson Palmer. His recent play doesn’t provide much optimism for a turnaround. The Cardinals strike me as a team that could continue to drop in the rankings.

19. Carolina Panthers

Carolina’s win against the San Francisco 49ers wasn’t all that impressive. They struggled to find consistency on the offensive side of the ball. The biggest take away is that Cam Newton looked pretty pedestrian.

He continues to struggle with his accuracy which makes it difficult to sustain drives. On a bright note, the Panthers defense looks like they could be very strong this year.

20. Detroit Lions

It’s tough to really judge the Detroit Lions based on their Week 1 performance. We know that Matthew Stafford has the talent to orchestrate late-game comebacks, but that’s a risky way to go through a season.

Detroit’s lack of a ground game could derail this team’s hopes of making it back to the playoffs.
