NFL Picks – Cowboys at Broncos

The Cowboys were impressive at home in week one with a decisive win over the New York Giants.  However, in week two the task will be a bit harder as they go on the road to take on the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos held on late to get the win over the Los Angeles Chargers.  The Cowboys offensive line vs. the Broncos defensive line is a good matchup and is one of the keys to the game. The Broncos need to try to generate pressure on Dak Prescott.

Both teams want to establish the run and control time of possession.  This will help the quarterbacks and Trevor Siemian needs the Broncos running game to take pressure off him.

Ultimately this game will come down to the quarterbacks.  Dak Prescott is the better of the two and I think he will lead the Cowboys to victory in a close game.

LANDOVER, MD – SEPTEMBER 10: Quarterback Kirk Cousins /

NFL Picks – Redskins at Rams

Jay Gruden and the Washington Redskins travel to Los Angeles to take on his former offensive coordinator Sean McVay and the Rams.  McVay had a huge role in the development of Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins and is now working with the Rams’ Jared Goff.

The Redskins were inconsistent on offense last week and will look to get on track against the Rams.  But that will be hard to do as the Rams defense gets back one of the best defensive lineman in the game this week in Aaron Donald.

Neither team ran the ball very well in week one, just 63 yards for the Rams and 64 yards for the Redskins.  So that will be a priority this week as the passing games will be under pressure to move the ball through the air.

While the Redskins passing game was erratic last week, I expect to see improvement against the Rams.  With Scott Tolzien at quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, the Rams defense didn’t get much of a challenge.  But that changes with Kirk Cousins.

I will be close, but I think Jay Gruden will come into LA and steal a win from his former protegé Sean McVay.
