After 14 seasons in Cincinnati, and seven playoff losses, could it be time for the Bengals to move on from Marvin Lewis? Here are five reasons they should.

1. Ineptitude on Offense

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis is facing a barrage of criticism after an 0-2 to start to the 2017 season. Cincinnati has been on the end of two ugly losses, failing to register a touchdown in either game.

Offensive coordinator Ken Zampese has paid the price for the lacklustre performances with his job. Zampese had been on Lewis’ staff since the beginning of his tenure as head coach in 2003.

He has been replaced by quarterbacks coach, and former Dolphins OC, Bill Lazor. Lewis said on the matter:

Ken Zampese has done a tremendous job for us for my 15 years here…But I feel it best for the football team to breathe new life into the offense, and that’s why I am making the change.”

This represents the first time Lewis has changed a coordinator mid-season in his time in Cincy.

The 58-year-old already faces an uphill battle to salvage anything out of the season and there are serious questions about his future. After a losing season last time out, the former Ravens DC is  certainly under pressure to deliver.

Lewis is in his 15th season at the helm, a tenure only exceeded by Bill Belichick in terms of active coaches, but could it be time for a change?
