Giants vs Eagles: Game Pick – Can Giants turn it around?
The 0-2 New York Giants go on the road to take on the 1-1 Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East for week 3. Here is the pick for Giants vs Eagles.
The New York Giants season started with a ton of confidence and an expectation to compete for the NFC East title. However, after an 0-2 start they’re just hoping in Giants vs Eagles that they can avoid getting that third loss. In their way is the rival Eagles who’ve started off as one of the more impressive teams in the league.
Quarterback Carson Wentz has shown significant improvement over his rookie season. Wentz is more accurate with football and shows an incredible ability to keep plays alive in the pocket and on the run. On the other hand, the Giants’ Eli Manning is having a nightmare of a season so far.
The Giants offensive line and running game are contributing factors to Manning’s poor play. Also, the health of star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has deprived Manning of one of the most explosive play makers in the NFL. Beckham did play in week 2 but was clearly not 100%. He should be a bit healthier against the Eagles though.
However, if the Giants offensive line doesn’t improve, Beckham’s presence on the field won’t matter as much. Spearheaded by defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, the Philadelphia Eagles pass rush could have a field day against the New York Giants offensive line.
The Giants defense has enough pass rush and secondary talent to give Carson Wentz some problems. Also, the Eagles have yet to show they can generate a consistent running game. So the Giants can devote more bodies to slowing down Carson Wentz than to stopping the Philadelphia Eagles rushing attack.
I think the Giants will make some adjustments to improve their pass protection, so Eli Manning will play better. However, the Philadelphia Eagles are a team on the rise. Division battles are always tough, and the Giants will fight tooth and nail. But the Eagles have too much momentum going to lose to a team with as many issue as the New York Giants have, Eagles win.
