In a week full of protests and upsets, the Washington Redskins added to the onslaught, as they ambushed the Oakland Raiders at home 27-10.

Not to take anything away from the Washington Redskins because they played an outstanding game.  But the Raiders like many of the favored teams in week 3 appeared emotionally drained by all the protests.  While many of the underdog teams looked emboldened by them.

The Oakland Raiders never really got off the bus in this game.  In addition to the Raiders, the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers Denver Broncos, Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Miami Dolphins were all beaten and most pretty handily by teams expected to lose.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins picked apart the Raiders defense and running back Chris Thompson looked like he was running circles around them. The Redskins offensive line flexed their muscles on Khalil Mack on the Raiders D-line.

On the other hand, the Washington Redskins defensive line owned the Raiders vaunted O-line.  Defensive end Preston Smith was dominant early on.  Raiders quarterback Derek Carr had no time to find receivers, and threw 2 interceptions.  And no dancing this week for Marshawn Lynch.

95 total yards for the Raiders, compared to 472 for the Redskins.  That’s domination folks.  356 yards passing by Cousins and just 85 yards for Derek Carr.  However, even if the Raiders were distracted, the Raiders effort was still atrocious and they need to regroup if they’re to challenge the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.

Next up for the Washington Redskins, they go on the road to take on the Kansas City Chiefs and that is an interesting matchup.  As for the Oakland Raiders, there will be a new number one team in my power rankings this, week.  No question who it’s going to be.
