QB spots open in 2019?

Leading on from the previous point; there just may be some historically successful franchises near the top of the 2019 draft due to their respective long-term franchise QB’s retiring.

Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger and Carson Palmer are the most likely to call it a day in the coming year or so and this could leave strong rosters realing with no franchise quarterback.

Big Ben and Palmer in particular look like they could be on the way out sooner rather than later. And, as both teams will likely be viable in 2017, they aren’t likely to gain a high draft pick this time around.

However, without the chance to snag one of the other highly touted college quarterback’s in 2018, both franchises may role with a stop-gap player for a year with the view to taking Darnold in 2019.

The Steelers could feasibly run with Landry Jones and the Cardinals with Drew Stanton. Both men have won regular season games in the past and wouldn’t be total disasters under center.

Additionally there is always the chance one of these teams, having finished with a reasonable record, trades up to get the USC signal caller in a blockbuster move reminiscent of the RG3 trade.
