The 1-2 Chicago Bears go on the road to take on the 2-1 Green Bay Packers in the NFC North for week 4.  Here is the pick for Bears vs Packers.

Week 3 was upset Sunday, and the Chicago Bears got a huge upset themselves, as they took out the Pittsburgh Steelers at home.  But this week in Bears vs Packers, they get to prove that the upset over the Steelers was for real and not a fluke.

However, this Bears team is one that has lacked consistency.  In week 1, they nearly beat the Atlanta Falcons.  Week 2, they got blown out by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Now in week 4, the Bears face their division rivals the Green Bay Packers.  So this gives them a chance to make a statement.

In comparison the Packers have been up and down as well.  Perhaps that’s par for the course in the early part of an NFL season.  Teams are trying to flesh out who they are.  So who are the Green Bay Packers?  A team who can’t run the ball, plays tough defense and has a future Hall of Famer at quarterback.

As usual, quarterback Aaron Rodgers is doing the heavy lifting for the team.  Like I said, there’s no running game, so it’s on Rodgers to generate offense.  As long as he’s the Packers quarterback, they always have a chance to win.  He’s that good.

If this game becomes a shootout, then the Bears can’t stay with the Packers.  They need to run the football with Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen and control time of possession to limit Rodgers chances.  And keep Mike Glennon from having to throw too much and to away from turnovers.

But the Packers won’t bother trying to establish the run.  They don’t have the personnel on the O-line or in the backfield to do it.  Also, the Bears are good against the run.  So the Packers will use the short passing game as a substitute for the run, and let Aaron Rodgers do what he does.

I think the Bears will keep things close initially, but the Packers will pull away in the second half.  They can’t hold Rodgers back the whole game, and the Bears don’t have enough offense to keep up with the Packers.  Packers win.
