Lions vs Vikings: Game Pick – Division foes face off
The 2-1 Detroit Lions go on the road to take on the 2-1 Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North for week 4. Here is the pick for Lions vs Vikings.
When division rivals meet in the NFL, anything can happen. Lions vs Vikings is a heated rivalry that goes back decades and they meet again in week 4. The winner joins the Green Bay Packers at the top of the division at 3-1, while the loser falls a step behind.
Last week, these two teams experienced the opposite ends of emotion. The Detroit Lions experience dejection as they came within a half yard of beating the Atlanta Falcons. While the Minnesota Vikings thrashed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Quarterback Case Keenum had the game of his life against the Bucs as he passed for 369 yards and 3 TD’s. I must admit, I underestimated Case Keenum. Looking at his body of work, he’s played well at times, but overall Keenum is mediocre at best.
However, with Sam Bradford still out with a knee injury, Case Keenum has an opportunity to change that perception. He has a receiver in Stefon Diggs who is an emerging threat down field. Also, rookie running back Dalvin Cook is one of the breakout stars of the early season.
But the Detroit Lions defense will have something to say about that. They got three interceptions off the Falcons Matt Ryan in week 3 and helped put Matthew Stafford and the offense in position to win the game late.
And even though Keenum had a big game, Matthew Stafford is still the better quarterback between the two. Stafford is one of the best in the league at bringing his team back from behind. So as long as it’s close, the Lions always have a chance to win.
But not this time. I think the Vikings will take this one at home. I like the Viking weapons on offense around the QB more. They have the better running game and that gives Case Keenum a huge advantage. He won;t out up 369 yards again this week, but he won’t have to.
