NFL Trade Rumors: Predicting NFL Trades that Could Happen
By Jon Dove
Zach Miller, Chicago Bears
Trade: Houston Texans
Other Fits: Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars
Despite their back to back wins, the Chicago Bears are not legitimate playoff contenders. They are pulling off victories thanks to their strong defense and turnovers. It will be difficult for them to pull off many more wins with Mitch Trubisky only attempting seven passes.
Chicago is obviously trying to protect their young quarterback, but the lack of passing attempts has to be frustrating for a veteran like Zach Miller. He would get a lot more targets on a team like the Houston Texans.
Houston has seen several of their top tight ends go down with injury. The Texans could offer the Bears a low-round draft pick in order to land Miller’s services. When healthy, Miller is a reliable pass catcher with the ability to make some plays down the field.
He would be a great security blanket for rookie Deshaun Watson. The Texans need to provide Watson with as many options as possible if they want to see his success continue.
Miller could also make sense for the Jacksonville Jaguars who need to expand their passing attack. He would work well alongside Mercedes Lewis in two tight end sets.
